African Cooking Recipes Question And Answer
need recipe for nasi goreng pattaya and nasi goreng paprik?
I am a South African and I spent the last five years in Malaysia in KL and I just love the pattaya and paprik. I want to cook them right here at home and I want them to taste the same. I have tried guessing the ingredients and cooking method but my food tastes like something is missing. Please assist.
I have come across some recipes online they are all in Bahasa Melayu so if you please assist with English translation, I would appreciate that.

Recipe'Nasi Goreng Bujang ala Epol'
Ingredients:
Rice (duh), oil, eggs, perencah nasi goreng adabi 3 packets, sambal, vegetables, vanilla essence, chocolate rice, cheese, fish cakes, serunding, salad, tomato sauce, kicap, chicken (if u dare), tomatoes, green peas, salad, apples.
Directions:
The main instruction is basically to hold a random amount of ingredient in your hand, whisper a short prayer, close your eyes, and let it plop into the frying pan. thus, i can't give you exact amounts, but i'll try for a visual description. The rice starts off white. Cook it, and leave it aside. Eggs and oil are mixed in a frying pan, initial colour of solution will b yellow. Then, instead of the usual 1 packet of perencah, 3 packets are added simaltaneously with sambal, kicap and tomato sauce, colouring the concoction an evil mix of black and blood red. To counter the smell, vanilla essence is added. if the sauce then seems to sweet, a few fish cakes are added as well to recounter the smell. At this point, the rice is added in. Due to blend of white with black/blood red, the rice will appear tinged in a blackish reddish colour. This assures u the dish is going as planned. The vegetables are then mixed, and cheese is melted to cover the whole thing (imagine pattaya with cheese instead of egg). Finally, serunding and chocolate rice are added as decoration, and 'whalla' the meal is complete. cun huh?
(this dish was ACTUALLY tried and tested by yours truly with a friend, after an attempt to cook standard nasi goreng was botched by several accidents, such as toppling vanilla essence into the sauce by mistake, etc. Ironically, despite going crazy by throwing anything we could into the solution once we knew we'd never acheive standard nasi goreng, the product turned out great! and no one suffered from stomach discomfort the next day! :) )
