Australian Cooking Recipes Question And Answer

i need a VERY basic pancake recipe, on a budget, and i need to know how many it makes!?

Im in year 8 and im on my schools Student Representative Council, and we have decided to have a Pancake Day to raise money for our schools environmental leadership team, and for a charity that the school will decide. we need a basic, but yummy recipe, and need to know how many it makes so we can compare the ingredients price to the price of a shaker bottle pancake mix. We are selling them for 50c each (australian) and are hoping for a large profit. We will be making them as we go along, so we want to be quick, in our food tech room, and will be cooking them just outside the door on a big BBQ bench top that we will rent. i hope for some answers soon as the day is in 2 weeks!! i think thats all the information that might help! thankyou in advance!

In general, pancakes are not expensive to make. Honestly though, not sure how many you can get out of this recipe as it depends on the size you plan to make. Just a suggestion, but wouldn't it be wiser to sell tickets to a pancake breakfast or something, rather than selling the pancakes one by one? I would think you would have more of a chance of turning a profit if you actually knew how many to expect and could buy your ingredients based on the number of tickets sold. BEST BUTTERMILK PANCAKES & WAFFLES 1 qt. buttermilk 1/4 c. oil 1 c. cream or canned skim milk 1 pkg. yeast 2 c. white flour 2 c. wheat flour 2 tbsp. baking powder 2 tbsp. baking soda 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 c. applesauce (optional) Mix ingredients in order given. This is a very large recipe which serves 12 or you can use it over a number of days. Can be stored for up to one week; mix up the night before using. Store covered loosely with plastic wrap in refrigerator, leaving room for expansion as mixture will bubble up. Note: Recipe can be halved. Over time, you may need to add water or flour to bring back the right consistency
here we make them out of basic flour, milk and an egg, mix well and fry in some margerine/butter, thin ones and as big as the frypan, you can put whatever you like on it or fry with it, like ham, cheeze, apples, razins, bacon, pineapple or just plain and sprinkle with sugar, yelly, syrup cheap and easy to make the batter should be a bit thick not too runny, use skim milk also cheap 1 liter,2 eggs, flour here that would cost you about 3 euro's will make about 30 to 40 pancakes, plain ones, you can add some vanilla extract to the batter if you gonna sell them plain good luck
I usually make them with one cup of milk, one cup flour, one egg, and one teaspoon of baking powder. If they are to thin then add some more flour if to thick add some more milk. You can also add some brown sugar to the mix if you like or some Cinnamon. Heat the griddle with some butter. Be sure not to over heat it or your butter will burn. Then pour some batter on it depending on how big you want the pancakes cook till you see bubbles and the underside is browned then flip.. and cook for about 30-40 seconds till browned.. and then repeat..
THis is super cheap and easy. Ingredients # 1 large egg # 5 teaspoons sugar # 1 1/3 cups milk # 1 cup flour # 3/4 teaspoon baking powder # 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil (optional) Directions 1.In a bowl or mixing jug, whisk together egg, sugar and half of milk (2/3 cup). 2. Add the flour and mix throughly. 3.Then add remaining milk (2/3 cup) and baking powder. It should be the consistency of thick cream. 4. (Optional): Add 1-1/2 tsp oil if you have trouble with sticking. 5.Beat until smooth. 6.Pour about a soup spoon sized amount onto a pre-heated lightly greased frying pan or griddle (You will need to start about medium high heat but after a few rounds you will need to drop it back to medium). 7.Flip with a spatula when the top is all bubbly (should be a lovely golden colour), and cook the other side (~45 seconds/side depending on stovetop). 8. Remove from pan and pile up on a plate (cover with a paper towel until served). 9. Serve with whatever you like and enjoy. yield is about 10 pieces depending in your pancake size
4 cups AP flour 1 cup of corn meal or polenta 1 tablespoon salt 1 tablespoon baking soda 1/4 cup melted butter 6 eggs separated 1 quart buttermilk basically mix all your dries ingredients together, add egg yolks, butter and milk mix well. whip egg whites till stiff and frothy fold into mix this will make enough pancakes for about 12 people getting 3 or 4 4inch pancakes each. What I like is there is no sugar in it. Very old school and very tasty.
Vegan Pancakes they taste great and you don't have to pay extra for eggs!you would never guess they don't have eggs in them ! Ingredients 1 cup flour (whichever kind you prefer) 1 tablespoon sugar (I used organic cane sugar) 2 tablespoons baking powder 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 cup soymilk 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Directions 1Set out all your ingredients. 2Set a stove element with a pan to medium heat. 3Combine the 4 dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt) in a bowl. 4Add the soy milk and vegetable oil to your mixture. 5Mix until smooth. 6Now the pan should be ready for your batter, so spoon one pancakes' worth of the mixture into the pan. 7Flip [carefully] when you see bubbles in the middle of the pancake, or if the edges are looking stiffened. 8Repeat until the batter is gone, and try not to eat them all while you're cooking them. So now you need a topping - maple syrup, lemon juice, icing sugar, butter, jam. These vegan pancakes are truly amazing and those allergic to eggs can eat them so now you will have more people buying them, good luck
