okay well i promised my friend for her birthday that i would cook her a chinese feast...trouble is that i am on a budget and dont really know much about chinese cooking.! Can you guys please give good recipes that are affordable...?

I went here when I tried to find affordable and yummy Chinese food recipes: http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/CookingSchool/EthnicCuisine/EC_ChineseRecipe.htm I have tried the Chicken fried rice and it's amazing, easy and cheap :) 1 Tbsp. oil 1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces 1 chicken bouillon cube 3 Tbsp. soy sauce 2 cups frozen vegetable blend (peas and carrots) 2 cups MINUTE White Rice, uncooked HEAT oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook and stir 5 min. or until chicken is cooked through. ADD bouillon cube, 2 cups water, soy sauce and vegetable blend; stir. Bring to boil. STIR in rice; cover. Reduce heat to low; cook 5 min. Stir. Season with additional soy sauce, if desired.
You can cook Yang Chow Fried Rice. Its quite easy to cook. hope it help...!
Chicken Teriyaki Serves: 6 Ingredients: 1/4 cup lite soy sauce 3 tbsp prepared spicy brown mustard 1 tbsp firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp ground ginger 1 tbsp sesame seeds 1 sliced thin medium onion 1 cut in half garlic clove 2 tbsp vegetable oil 4 skinned boned chicken breast halves, each about 4 oz 1 spinach and pepper saute (see recip, e for this) Directions: In medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mustard, sugar and ginger; set aside. In large, nonstick skillet, over high heat, toast sesame seeds until golden brown, about 4 minutes; remove from pan and set aside. In same skillet, saute onion and garlic in oil until soft, about 5 minutes, if desired, discard garlic clove halves. Add chicken and soy sauce mixture to skillet. Cover and simmer, turning chicken over once, until chicken is cooked through. Meanwhile, prepare spinach and pepper saute. To serve, place chicken on platter, pour sauce and vegetables over chicken and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Place sauteed mixture on platter. Garnish with scallion fan.

Hey there I don’t know what your budget is like but the following recipe should be under 50. The items are, hot and sour soup, bean sprout salad, Chinese fried rice, and chili beef with bell pepper. Recipe: Sweet and sour soup 1.Take a medium piece of boneless chicken and chop it up (small pieces) add half an onion chopped. Cook it in vegetable oil until chicken is almost cooked (golden brown) 2.Add some corn, celery and soy sauce 3.Add salt and a little bit of red chili powder and ginger 4. Add chicken broth or water. 5.Add tomatoes 6.When the soup is as thick as desired add some more soy sauce (about 1/3 a cup) for 1 litre soup and a table spoon of sugar. Bean sprout salad 1.Stir fry the sprouts 2.Add some lightly cooked (for about 7 minutes) shrimp and chopped mushrooms 3.Add a little monosodium glucomate (you;ll find it in most grocery store), also known as tasting salt, add about halt a tea spoon 4.Add regular salt if needed and powdered black pepper 5.Serve and supply soy sauce if your guest wants to add some Chinese fried rice 1.Cook rice as usual 2.Add teriyaki sauce, olive oil 3.sprinkle monosodium glucomate 4.Add some stirfried peas, carrots and onions 5.If you want you can decorate it with some plum tomato Beef with bell pepper 1.Marinade beef with lemon juice, soy sauce, salt and vinegar for about 2 hours, before marinade slice the beef, make the slices about 1 cm thick (about 0.7 if possible) 2.Cook in vegetable oil for about 10 minutes 3.add water and salt (if needed) 4.Add some green chili (take out the seeds and wash the chili if you do not want it to be spicy) 5.Add a little water 6.Cook for 20 minutes and taste to see if the beef is done 7.If done then add 1 green bell pepper, sprinkle sugar (about half a teaspoon) and seasame seed (if you like them) All the proportion is specified assuming that it is a dinner for two
Ok, this is going to seem like a lot, but you can make it in under 20 minutes, I swear. I make it all the time - can't get enough. You can do this for probably around $10, and pair it with some egg rolls, or some other side dish. Bourbon Chicken: 1-2 TB Olive Oil 1 crushed garlic clove 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes 1/2 tsp. ground ginger 1/4 cup Apple Juice 2 TB Ketchup 2 TB Apple Cider Vinegar 1/2 cup soy sauce 1/2 packed brown sugar 1/2 cup water 2 TB flour 1 lb. chopped white or dark meat chicken, tossed in flour Brown garlic in olive oil. Add remaining ingrediants and bring to a boil. Meanwhile, brown chicken in a seperate skillet and add to sauce mixture. Simmer 20 minutes. Serve over rice with your favorite chinese veggies! It tastes a lot like store bought General Tso to me....that's why I love it!
