Chinese Cooking Recipes Question And Answer
Chinese recipe help... needed for saturday 6th!?!?
Hi.
I am cooking a meal for family friends (1 child, 2 adults), and they want something mild. I was thinking chinese.
So, my question is this... Can somebody find me a simple but delicous recipe, not too spicy, not too citrusy!
I need a main and a starter.
Thanks

Were you saying that Saturday is the 6th, because you are a bit off on your dates. Chinese is gross..How do you know that the kid is gonna like it.
Make chicken, everyone loves chicken.
i would start with wonton soup- make the wontons with pork, cabbage, garlic, ginger and soya sauce wrapped in wonton pastry and drop it into chicken soup.
Then I would stir fry some beef with black bean sauce and make a veggie dish with steamed chinese brocolli topped with oyster sauce and steamed rice on the side. YUM
look for a soup like a chicken/corn or a nice marinated duck salad.
a rice or noodle with maybe beef or chicken prawns could work to or maybe not?
the sauce and dressing or the most impotent...
lemon can go anywhere just don't abused of it to much can chock peoples...good luck
Starter with some egg drop soup, boil some chicken, then take it out of the pot and chop up. Place back in pot, add a dash of sage, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Put 4 to 6 eggs in a bowl and stir with a fork to get it mixed up. Then slowly start stirring your pot and slowly add the egg. Then turn the pot off until ready to serve. If you want the chips that some people like in it, you can buy egg roll shells at your local grocery store in the produce department. Cut them up in small strips and fry on high heat. For your main you can have Pork Fried Rice, 4 c. boil rice cold, 4 scallions chopped, 1/4 head of Chinese cabbage, 1 tbsp. fresh chopped ginger, 3 tbsp. oil,3 eggs beaten, 1/2 lb. pork roast, salt & pepper, 1/2 tsp M.S.G., 2 tbsp soy sause,1/2 tsp. sugar,1/2 c. fresh chopped parsley. Heat oil to high heat add diced pork, ginger, scallions, seasonings, cabbage and fry, then add rice and fry, then make a hole in the center of mixture and add eggs. Fry for about 3 min. andmix into rice. Sprinkle with parsley and aerve. Good luck
First, buy some hoisin sauce...all children love stuff with hoisin sauce... I'm assuming you have soy sauce.
slice and marinate pork or chicken in soy sauce, shredded ginger and tarragon.
steam some broccoli or bitter green
coat the marinated chicken/pork in cornstarch and stir fry (btw, emphasis on the fry...don't stir too much) and when it's cooked through and crispy, toss it with the hoisin sauce to glaze. pour over the steamed greens.
deglaze the pan with just a bit of water or vermouth and a squeeze of lemon, reduce that to something thick, and pour that over the chicken/pork and greens.
simple stuff. It will turn out sweet/salty...with the slightly bitter crunch of the vegetables.
Take out lemon chicken
1 tablespoon oil
1 pound boneless chicken
6 ounces snow peas, trimmed
1 small red pepper, cut into strips
4 ounces lemon flavored jello, package
1 tablespoon corn starch
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 tablespoons Zesty Italian Dressing
2 cloves garlic, minced
1. HEAT oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook 4 min. or until cooked through, stirring occasionally. Add snow peas and peppers; cook and stir 2 min.
2. MIX dry gelatin mix and cornstarch in small bowl. Add broth, dressing and garlic; stir until gelatin is dissolved. Add to skillet. Reduce heat to medium; cook 3 min. or until sauce is thickened, stirring frequently.
3. SERVE over hot cooked rice, if desired.
