Dutch Cooking Recipes Question And Answer
Savory Beef Stew?
My recipe calls for a ovenproof Dutch Oven to cook my beef stew. I don't have a dutch oven will any ovenproof dish with a lid work?
It's a casserole dish.

Yes I do that to. it turns out fine.
You can use a baking pan or another pot with a lid as long as the pan or pot can safely go into the oven. Do you have a big cast iron pot? That would work well. Ideally, you want it to be deeper than it is wide.
sure that will work just fine. Enjoy your stew! Also I'm not sure if you live around a trader Joe's but they have the best Lemon pepper on the face of the earth...you grind it yourself it taste soooo wonderful! You could mix garlic flakes, lemon juice with a little zest and fresh pepper in a bowl let it sit for a bit and add it to the stew, the acid in the lemon works wonders on the taste it brings to food!
Sure, I make mine on top of the stove and slow cook it. It gets rave reviews. Start by flouring and browning the meat first then add chopped onions. add tomato sauce and brown gravy that's the beginning you can add whatever vegetables you prefer after that but don't add them to soon or they get mushy. Bon Appetite
YES BUT IT HAS TO BE DEEP,A THICK POT WORKS BETTER. if ITS GOING INTO THE OVEN BE SURE TO PREHEAT AT LEAST 30MIN.i ALL WAYS COOK THE BROWN ONION SKINS(THE DRY ONES) SO I START WITH DEEP BROWN LIQUID.REM BER COOKING IS A ART.MAKE IT LOOK GOOD.
