English Cooking Recipes Question And Answer
English breakfast?
Could anyone give me the recipe of th full English breakfast?
Above all, I need to know:
- which bacon to buy and how to cook it
- same for sausages
- how to cook the mushroom
- what hash browns to buy....
Thank you very much, I come back to France and would like to do one
There is no use to answer nonsense such as advising to teach french about how to cook... the person may not know anything about french food. Anyway thanks to the other person who gave me advice as regards to the eng breakfast :)

you need un-smoked back bacon, my girlfriend grills it, but really....FRY! so that it's nice and crispy and the rind is golden. put that in the oven to keep warm, and do the sausages. i would grill these cos the amount of fat that drips out is minging! buy fat pork ones, doesn't matter what brand, but fat, and pork! don't burst them with a knife as all the flavour dribbles out. while you're doing these, put some beans on (heinz) and start on the mushrooms - sliced and fried - in with fried bread. butter both sifdes and fry - maybe adding more butter to the pan to get it nice and golden. finally, turn the heat of the frying pan right down and add your eggs to be fried. you need the pan not too hot so that the bottom of the egg doesn't burn while you wait for the top. if you're starving, you can flip the eggs over to finish em quicker, but then you don't get the yellow yolks, so just take your time.
serve altogether with a rack of loads of toast and a BIG cup of tea!
don't need hash browns! black pudding's good, and square (lorne) sausage is great, but more scottish...
you went back to france and want to learn how to cook a full English breakfast? GOOD, teach those french how to cook something proper for once!
Bacon or streaky bacon - grill or fry.
Good quality sausages - grill or fry.
Mushrooms - fry.
Hash browns aren't really on the English breakfast.
You could also try adding scrambled or fried eggs, black pudding, tomatoes (grilled or tinned plum tomatoes), baked beans, fried bread and/or toast.
You also need a good cup of tea (or coffee if you must) and tomato or brown sauce.
Fry and enjoy!
unsmoked bacon, thick pork sausages, 2 eggs, you can buy frozen hash browns, baked beans, normal mushrooms, fresh black pudding, fresh tinned tomatoes. some cafes in uk serve with chips.
can you email me at hannah_clarke32@hotmail.co.uk as i would like to know abit about french food
use a good bacon, smoked or unsmoked depending on your taste, walls pork sausages with a hint of pepper (theyre lush). lightly fry the mushrooms in olive/sunflower oil until soft (dont cook in milk, they just dont taste right for breakfast) and buy mccain hash browns which you can either grill or fry. use heinz baked beans and finsh off with a nice large fried egg! mmmm im hungry now..........
black pudding!!, Baked beans, grilled tomato, fried egg, maybe some plum tomatos aswell and toast and a cup of tea,
You can shallow fry most of it but only on a medium heat, smokey back bacon is the best, but it depends on individual taste, fry the mushrooms.
unsmoked middle bacon, cumberland sausage, black pudding hash brown, beans, tinned tomatoes, fried egg, mushroomsand a slice of toast washed down with a mug of tea.yummy im hungry just thinking about it.
First, Hash Browns are not and have never been an ingredient in a Proper English Breakfast. They are an import from America. Very nice they are but only in the right place.
Bacon should be a mixture of back and streaky and is best grilled. It should be bordering on the crisp but not shatter at the touch of the knife. Mushrooms should be fried in oil until well soaked and starting to go brown on the white side and the underside should now look jet black. Sausages should be grilled but do NOT prick them as the fat will run out and the inside will not cook properly.
Then a slice or two of well fried black pudding. Do not forget the grilled or fried fresh tomatoess and a slice of deep fried bread. To top it all the essential ingredient is two fried eggs. They should be fried in plenty of oil so that the white does not catch and go crisp and brown at the edges,The white should be white and oily and the yolk done so that the skin is firm over it but the inside is still runny to dip the fried bread in it. Baked beans are also an optional extra, but they must be Heinze.Brown sauce or tomatoe ketchup served on the side if wanted. It is now 15.10hrs and just typing this has made me look forward to breakfast tomorrow. When serving there should be no excess grease on the plate. The plate should look clean and free of any other liquids
ok let me tell u how to make a real english breakfast im from england and cook a mean one.
fry bacon as u said u know how and also fry sausages u need to fry an egg so the yolk is still runny with the mushrooms slice them thick and add some salt and black pepper to the oil fry them too. hash browns are best done in the oven u just need normal ones or u can make ur own by grating some potato and a bit of onion and binding together with a bit of egg make lil triangle shapes. u will also need a tomota which u cut in half and fry with the bacon. u also need black pudding which u slice up and fry and also u need baked beans too which im sure u know how to cook.. after u have finished fryin all ur stuff get a slice of bread and cut in half diagonal fry it in the oil u used to fry bacon for fried bread. wash down with a nice cup of tea. not a very healthy start to the day but very tasty and cure a hangover hope this helps enjoy u could do a healthy version by grilling bacon sausage and black pudding and poaching ur eggs and having toast instead of fried bread still nice but not as satisfying lol
1 beef sausage, grilled
2 rashers Smoked Bacon (Dry Cured) fryed in oil
Some black pudding cut into fairly thick slices, fryed in oil
1 fresh egg, fried in oil
1 sliced mushroom cooked in butter
1/2 can beans in tomato sauce
2 reasonably thick slices of fresh bread, toasted or fryed
All the answers you have had so far are fine - one thing you need to know though is that the plate you serve it on should be very hot - a cold plate just won't do!
