English Cooking Recipes Question And Answer

What kind of cheeses are "feta cheese" and "farmer's cheese"? Are they ricotta?

I am from Argentina, and my mother language is Spanish. I have seen a cooking recipe -in an english-based website- that takes 2 kind of cheeses: "farmer's cheese" and "feta cheese". I need to know what kind of cheeses are those (better if you know how are they called in Spanish). In the pics they look like ricotta or cottage, but I am not sure about it. Thanks a lot!

Feta is goat cheese. Ricotta is from a cow They are very different Farmer's cheese is a variety of homemade cheeses similiar to Feta
Feta is from Greece. It is very crumbly and salty. It doesn't feel or taste anything like ricotta or cottage. Farmer's cheese is very similar to cottage, because it's made from pressing the moisture from cottage cheese.
Feta is a greek cheese, it is dry and crumbly (also salty). Farmers cheese has a creamy taste and is made by pressing all the liquid out of cottage cheese.
Feta cheese is basically goat cheese. It's strong, but good. Feta comes crumbled, and therefore, resembles cottage cheese, but it's not creamy like cottage cheese or ricotta. I think you can also get it in blocks, but I'm not sure. I've only seen it in crumbles or chunks. Farmers cheese, is the same thing as brick or muenster cheese. It has a light creamy texture to it and is very mild in taste. It's usually sliced off a block, like brick or muenster. It melts beautifully in sandwiches. Until recently, I'd never heard of Farmers Cheese. I asked the lady at the deli what it was, and she gave me a sample slice. I bought some and brought it home. My family never knew the difference.
Ricotta is more creamy than feta and farmers cheese, which are mostly crumbled.
