French Cooking Recipes Question And Answer

I have a recipe for a wine cake that calls for yellow cake mix, would it be okay to use french vanilla?

Would it really matter? I only have french Vanilla cake mix. The recipe includes cake mix, pudding mix, cooking sherry, oil, cinnamon, nutmeg and eggs. do you think it would taste any different? Well, I just put it in the oven. I won't be able to taste it until tomorrow for Christmas. But the batter taste yummy!

it would be fine..sounds sooo yummy!!!!
It would be better. I just substituted french vanilla pudding in a cake mis and it was awesome!
If the french vanilla is yellow, then yes! Even if it isn't, who gives a damn? Use it anyways!
It'll be fine....
Vanilla and Yellow are completely different flavors. Don't do the vanilla unless you can improvise on the other ingredients.
I think that it would be ok. The receipe sounds delicious. let us know how the cake turned out with the French Vanilla. Ok. You might like the French Vanilla better than the yellow.
Go for it. It will taste different but the vanilla will mix well with those ingredients. Merry Christmas
I make a blackberry wine cake with a white cake mix and it is really good
Does it necessarily matter? No, not really. Would it taste different? Yes. Would it taste bad? No. I also highly, highly recommend not using cooking sherry, as many cooking sherries have additives to them (including msg and other spices) as well as being generally mediocre wines. And in a dessert that highlights the wine what really is effecting the flavor of the cake is the wine itself. My recommendation is to go with the french vanilla, but buy a decent to good quality sherry from a liquor store, the rule of thumb is to never cook with anything you wouldnt willingly drink or enjoy drinking. If youre not familiar, ask someone at the store what they would recommend.
i bet it will be good.
