Can anyone please suggest me good and quick Indian recipes for lunch. Me and my sister both work and do not get time to cook proper food daily, hence either we survive on salad, pasta or buy food from outside. We have reached a point where we do not want to eat salad or pasta at all. So please no salad recipes. We need recipes which are quick to make so that we can make our lunch boxes in night and take it in morning. Thanks
I am so confused, Some sites say that milk should be added to Moong dal halwa and some sites do not ask us to add milk, it creates lot of confusion, which one is the best site so I can follow it blindly.

I like Indian food (on the spicy side), but I'm not familiar with the recipes or spices. Is there a recipe I can cook at home, or should I stick with restaurants?
I really like indian food, especially the butter chicken and the rice dish I from takeout indian restaurants so I need to learn to cook it myself. Please share if you have any good recipes for beginners. Thank you all so much!

I'm an American trying to learn to cook great Indian food for my Indian fiance. It's difficult getting authentic recipes since traditionally (as I've been told) Indian women do not keep written recipes the way American women do...it's all in memory. Is there a good cookbook or online site for authentic recipes? We eat mostly south Indian fare. Thanks!!
I'm cooking Indian food with a class of 9 year olds this week and would like a simple recipe for some Indian sweets - preferably no cooking involved! Any help would be much appreciated as I'm struggling to find anything online.
Of those who cook Indian frequently, what is your favorite source for recipes? We cook a lot of Indian food at home. Our favorites are Jaffrey's Indian Cooking; Mangoes and Curry leaves (South Asian); And Jule Sahin's Classical Indian Cooking.
Recipes from these books are sooo good, we find it hard to eat out at Indian restaurants -- even Amber which is probably the best around ithe Bay Area s not as good as recipes from these books.
Thanks for your suggestions.

I am looking for Pakistani/Indian recipes and want to cook Dal in the slow cooker, advice on spices also?Need IndianPakistani recipes, with good choices for spices, in slow cooker: which veggies/spices etc?
I'm in the US, and am learning Indian cooking. I found idli flour, ground rice flour and urid dahl mixed together. I found recipes for a steamed sour dough pancake sounding thing made with whole rice and urid dahl that was soaked and then ground, but nothing for the flour. I found a site that sells microwave idli steamers, though, so I know I can get kitchen utensils. If its just used for breakfast cakes, what are they eated with?
I found lots of recipes like this first answer- but they call for par boiled rice and whole urid dahl. I have idli FLOUR made with rice flour and dahl flour, already mixed. do I just add everything to this and proceed? or are there other recipes?
i really dont mind going to someones house & doing the cooking as per instruction , but i really need to get hands on, i have time on weekends, but i really want to learn quite a lot of Indian recipes veg & nonveg. ive been through some books but i need someone to help me to really get in to it, i seriously mean it , please help ?

I realise broccoli isn't used in Indian cooking, but the usual culprits (cauliflower, potatoes, peas, carrots, broccoli) are raaaaaather boring. I have recipes for everything except broccoli, and I do like spice. Rather than just using broccoli in 'aloo gobi' for example, I'd like something that would especially go well with broccoli. Thank you in advance
the preparation in the recipes should be clear enough for an anglo lady to understand...coz i am trying to help out my dads office staff who is 35 and has come from uk
