I'm not Italian but having lived with an Italian family for a few years, I became very fond of Italian cooking, especially the sauce that goes with pasta. Here is the way I make it. Please tell me if my recipe would meet with your satisfaction. Brown 2 pork chops in olive oil, 2 cloves garlic, add 2 cans crushed tomatoes, 1 can tomato sauce, 1 or 2 cans tomato paste, 2 bay leaves, 1 tsp sugar, maybe a pinch oregano. Cook slowly for a couple of hours. Sometimes I make bracioli (cubed steak rolled up with thin slices garlic and tied with thread) and brown this with chops. Mmmm. What would a few anchovies do?
I would like a chance to try and cook the real thing as far as pasta sauces go. I love pasta I don't care if they say it's loaded with carbs. I work them off, lol. So I want a genuine, authentic Italian meat sauce. Can anyone help me out?

A former neighbor used her grandmother's recipe and just used a bit of this & that. She cooked it slow overnight for two days before serving it over cheese lasagne. (Living next door, I could smell it and by the time it was ready to serve, I just devoured it.) Everything I find on-line or in recipe books always has a "quick" method. The sauce she made was the finest I've ever tasted. If anyone has one, I would truly be greatful. We've lost touch and I've tried to duplicate what she told me to use but it's not the same. I'm missing something. Thanks.
I disagreed with Buca di Beppo about this. There Lasagna was nothing but baked ricotta cheese with sauce on it. It was not good at all. I don't recommend eating there.
The Chef personally came to my table and told me that real Italians cook Lasagna "Without" noodles. I want to know if this is true. And yes I'm positive it was Lasagna that I ordered.

INGREDIENTS
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
1 (16 ounce) jar marinara sauce
1 (4.5 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
1 (14.5 ounce) can Italian-style diced tomatoes, undrained
1 (9 ounce) package refrigerated or fresh cheese tortellini
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
DIRECTIONS
Crumble the ground beef and Italian sausage into a large skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until browned. Drain.
Combine the ground meats, marinara sauce, mushrooms, and tomatoes in a slow cooker. Cover, and cook on LOW heat for 7 to 8 hours.
Stir in the tortellini, and sprinkle the mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the top. Cover and cook for 15 more minutes on LOW, or until the tortellini is tender.
Does anybody have any quick, easy recipes that I can use to make dinners for my partner who hates my cooking?
We have been together for 6 months, and I have cooked for him three times in that time period. Every time, he criticizes everything about my food, one time, he said, "This doesn't belong on the plate, it belongs in the garbage."
Granted, I am not the best cook, but I think I do alright. My meats usually wind up tough on the outside but moist on the inside, sometimes slightly dry. I usually don't follow recipes for meats or pastas, I make up things as I go. I like to use alot of garlic, oils, and italian seasonings.
The last dinner I made was chicken breasts cooked in lemon juice and vegetable oil, topped with raspberry sauce and layed over plain pasta, boxed mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts on the side.
Any suggestions for foods to make? Remember, nothing too complicated.
PS - My partner is an excellent cook and has catered many events, including weddings.
He has cooked about ten times since we've been together, but he drives three hours to and from his job and is usually too tired to do anything besides crash on the couch when he gets home.
Most of the time I we eat separately, I cook for myself, he picks at munchies in the fridge and cabinets.
But it would be nice if I could cook for him, and have him eat it, and like it. After all, he does drive such a long distance from work, he shouldn't have to cook when he gets home. I WANT to have dinner ready for him, at least three or four nights a week.

we are cooking Italian in my cooking class this week. tomorrow and friday will be free cook days and we can choose to cook anything Italian!
however, the each class period is only about an hour and 15 minutes long. we are on time budgets! me and my cooking group want to make dessert along with our entrees. we havent thought of any specific Italian desserts.
